Lindsay Lohan’s acting comeback is officially on track again, after the troubled actress has signed on to portray Elizabeth Taylor in a television movie.The actress had been rumored to play the part for several months, but the news was confirmed today.
Rob Sharenow, a Lifetime network executive, issued a statement that Lindsay will indeed play the lead role in “Liz & Dick”.
Sharenow states, “We are thrilled Lindsay will portray beloved Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor. She is one of the rare actresses who possesses the talent, beauty and intrigue to capture the spirit of such a provocative icon.”
Lindsay said in her statement, “I have always admired and had enormous respect for Elizabeth Taylor. She was not only an incredible actress but an amazing woman as well. I am very honored to have been asked to play this role.”
Now the hunt is on for the actor that will play the role of Taylor’s husband, Richard Burton.
The project will begin filming in June 2012.
